I formed Chapter House Engineering Consultants as Principal in 1993 after a career of 34 years as a Senior Authorised Engineer in the Electricity Supply Industry, culminating in an appointment to the post of First Engineer Operations.

I advised on matters relating to insurance claims and in particular the technical aspects of system asset management. I recognised that many organisations required expert advice regarding the extent of their third party liability. With this in mind I formed Chapter House Engineering Consultants and offered an Advisory Service to the privatised utilities in the Yorkshire Area.

There was an immediate interest in the service I was able to offer, which over a thirteen year period has attracted in excess of 2500 instructions from my various clients. This has represented an at risk asset value of approximately Seventy Five Million Pounds.

Formal Training
I commenced my career with the East Midlands Electricity Board as a Student Engineer. I gained electrical engineering qualifications to the standard of the Institution of Electrical Engineers Part 3 Examination, which is recognised as a Diploma in Engineering. I accepted a part time lecturing post in the early part of my career, involving Third Year Ordinary National Certificate Electrical Engineering subjects at Derby and District College of Technology, which is now Derby University .

Engineering Experience
On completion of my formal training I held junior appointments in the Derby and Burton Area of the East Midlands Electricity Board and the Bradford Area of the Yorkshire Electricity Board. Whilst in these appointments I became experienced in activities associated with planning, construction, operation and maintenance of a wide range of electrical distribution equipment operating at voltages up to and including 33,000 volts. I acquired a technical knowledge of transformers, switchgear, overhead constructions and underground cables of the various specifications to form the complex distribution networks of city and rural areas, supplying domestic, commercial and industrial premises.

Management Posts
From 1982 to 1993 I was employed as a First Engineer by YEB which became the Yorkshire Electricity Group plc. I was responsible for the management of the Central Operations Unit, which was the largest of three Units in the Pennine Area covering an area of approximately 500 square kilometres, containing the City of Bradford and the surrounding environs. I was in overall control of the operation and maintenance of the Distribution System supplying a population of almost one million customers.

Professional Status
I am a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology and registered as a Chartered Engineer by the Engineering Council.
